I think most people are probably under the impression that stock photos are hurting your average photographer. The simple fact of the matter is stock photos are nothing more than space fillers. Real photos of your people helps build trust and connection, most likely the number one aim of your website and marketing. Stock photos do the opposite, they seem generic, insincere. So, no, not worried.
The following images are from a shoot I did for a client. Before the shoot we looked at stock photo libraries and chose some images we liked, take that stock libraries! On the day we simply smashed through the list, the cost per image will be about $3. I think a decent stock image normally costs more.
So next time you are thinking to quickly grab some stock photos, think again. Are you building your brand, are you building trust and connection or are you just filling space?
